Alice Ann Perkins was born February 24, 1931 at the family farm near Canby in Florida Township, to Anton and Christina (Fittje) Klosterboer. She was baptized on May 12, 1932. She graduated from Dawson High School in 1949. Following graduation she attended Minneapolis Business College. She married Donald Kenneth Perkins on July 12, 1952 at First Presbyterian Church in Dawson.
Alice and Don were blessed with seven children: Russel, Penny, Kenneth, Scott, Kelly, Chadd, and Jerrad. The family lived and farmed near Dawson and in 1978 they moved to Pine Street in Dawson. Alice worked for Pamida in Montevideo and then AGP in Dawson until her retirement in 1993.
After retirement, Alice kept busy cleaning at Riverside Apartments. She and Don delivered Meals on Wheels along with Prairie Five Meals for fifteen years. She loved jigsaw puzzles, quiptoquip, playing cards with friends and family, and baking many family favorites.
Alice’s greatest role was that of wife and mother. She was very proud of her family and attended many events her children and grandchildren participated in. She delighted in watching her children interact and have fun together throughout their lives. Many laughs were shared from the good-natured teasing she received from her children. She responded with a quick wit and good sense of humor. She looked forward to and enjoyed the Klosterboer family reunions every three years.
Alice loved being active in the lives of her family and community. She was a member of the Dawson American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter and served as a Circles member. During the last several years, Alice and Don were vital members and volunteers at the Dawson Senior Center. They were both named 2008 Outstanding Senior Citizens for Lac qui Parle County and were recognized at a ceremony at the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul. They also were honored to serve as 2016 Memorial Day Parade Marshalls in Dawson.
Alice is survived by her seven children: Russel (Pam) of Bourbonnais, IL; Penny (Gary) Jordahl of Vancouver, WA; Kenneth (Sandy Mogard) of rural Dawson; Scott (Karrie) Perkins of Colorado Springs, CO; Kelly (Lisa) of Rockford, MN; Chadd (Denise) of Hanover, MN; and Jerrad (Karla) of rural Dawson. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Eric (Meghann) and children Brayden, Taylor, Chase, Charlotte, and Landon; Evan (Amber) and children Ella, Alek, and Elijah; Ty Jordahl and Jamie Jordahl; Lindsay (Stetson) Herigon; Demia, Dylan, Austin, and Emily; Mason and Logan; Jaden, Paiton, Rylan, and Karston; and Justin, Jordon, Kadyn, and Kreed.
