Ardyce Jean Boraas was born on July 20, 1932 in Dawson, MN to Raymond and Mable (Larson) Boraas. She was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. Ardyce attended District 7 country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Dawson High School in 1950. Following high school, Ardyce worked two years at a canning factory in Montevideo.
On April 11, 1953, Ardyce married the love of her life Thorlen Berg at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. Together they had two children, Carol and Deborah. They made their home on the farm where Ardyce cared for the house and yard and helped with farm work.
Ardyce was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter. She was treasurer of the Sunday school for many years. She was in Bible Study and Circle at Baxter and was known for always bringing a cake or other dish, for church events. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a lot of laughter with her family and friends. Ardyce and her husband loved to camp several times a year with family and good friends. They were members of Heritage Hill for many years and enjoyed the annual threshing shows. Thor and Ardyce loved most of all to spend time with their daughters and grandkids and attended as many of their school and sporting events as possible.
In her later years living in Dawson you would likely find Ardyce having fun with friends at the Dairy Queen on Sunday nights or around the puzzle table at the Riverside Apartments.
Ardyce enjoyed making lefse and other Scandinavian treats for the holidays. In her spare time, she loved baking and sewing, crocheting and cross stitch. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by those close to her.
Ardyce is survived by her two children, Carol Berg of Plymouth, MN and Deborah (Curt) Bunnell of Maple Grove, MN; two grandchildren, Abby Bunnell of St Louis Park, MN, and Jack Bunnell of Plymouth, MN; a brother Dennis (Gloria) Boraas of Dawson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thorlen; and parents, Raymond and Mable (Larson) Boraas.
