Blanche Jordahl died Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 89.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 15 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home.
Blanche Patricia Jordahl was born on May 22, 1932 in Big Bend Township to Eddie and Ruby (Molden) Norby. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church. She graduated from Montevideo Senior High School. Blanche was united in marriage to Phillip Jordahl on March 4, 1951 in Montevideo. They made their home in Dawson, MN. She was the manager at the golfclub for several years, and worked as a salesperson for 45 yrs for, Nelson's V Store, Hauck's & Ruby's.
Blanche was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in circle, mentoring, and the women’s group. Blanches was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as president for 25 years. She enjoyed travel, golfing, bowling, gardening and crafts. Blanche won numerous golf trophies throughout the years and enjoyed the competition.
Phil and Blanche enjoyed traveling and visited 48 of the 50 states including Alaska 4 times and Washington State 15 times. The only states they missed were Hawaii and an eastern state. They also visited Canada and Norway. They rarely flew anywhere on their travels as Phil would say, that if they flew, they would miss out on many of the out of the way scenic stops. They often took along their golf clubs, so they could play an interesting course when they came upon one.
She is survived by her children Barb (Gary) Christie, Gary (Penny) Jordahl, and Cheryl (Jim) Jordahl, along with 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a sister: Janice Olsen, Montevideo; as well as extended family.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phillip; sisters: Winifred Amundson, Ruth Simonson; twin brother, Wayne Norby; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family.
