Bonita Hersom

Bonita Hersom, of Dawson, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 76.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM - 4:00PM at the Rusty Duck in Dawson, MN.

Bonnie (Mortvedt) Hersom was born on March 8, 1949, to Lane & Jacqueline (Dugan) Mortvedt in Dawson, MN. She graduated from Dawson High School. She attended Willmar Vo Tech’s cosmetology program. From there she moved to the Cities & worked for Prudential. In 1973, she moved back home and married Rick Hersom of Dawson. From this union one son, Brian & one daughter Lisa, were born.

Bonnie had various jobs throughout her life in Dawson. Dale’s Drive-In, Food & Fuel, Dawson Liquor Store, Dawson Engineering, Dawson American Legion, The Draw Bar, ICF-MR group home, & Dawson VFW. She loved socializing and cooking for family, friends, and her community. She loved being the life of the party. Bonnie had a love for sports cars, motorcycles, and holidays. Her travels took her to Texas, Hawai’i, Las Vegas, and several trips to Sturgis.

Bonnie took great pride in her children & grandchildren. She loved to hear what was happening with them and to share those moments with others. She would clip and save any newspaper articles that mentioned their names

She is survived by her children Brian (Jody) Hersom of Dawson, and Lisa (Rick) Knapper of Clara City; grandchildren: Ethan, Landen, & Tahlia Hersom. Along with other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lane & Jackie Mortvedt.
