Carolyn Diane (Aamot) Walton, of Willmar, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 74.
Although she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, she was surrounded by her loving family every step of the way, up until the Lord took her to heaven. Her family is comforted in the knowledge that her suffering is over.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Watson, MN. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Carolyn Diane was born October 7th 1942, the second of seven children born to Verdie and Adeline (Olson) Aamot. She attended first through eighth grade at Watson Public School, graduated from Montevideo High School in 1960, and received her Registered Nurse degree from Northwestern School of Nursing in 1963. Carolyn was a vivacious, energetic woman who loved music. She sang in the Montevideo High School Choir, Madrigal group, Glee Club, and the Northwestern Choir. She loved to play her piano with joyful passion.
Carolyn started her nursing career at Northwestern and Fairview hospitals in Minneapolis. She continued her career with a move to Watertown, South Dakota and later to Nampa, Idaho. Returning to Minnesota in 1983, she worked at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota. In 1986, she began a stint as a traveling nurse to provide her opportunities to be near her beloved children, Larry and Theresa. These assignments also allowed her to visit family across the country. She finished her distinguished career working for the Red Cross in St. Paul, MN. Carolyn was happiest spending time with her family and friends. Her kind disposition and generous spirit touched all who knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Larry (Natalie); daughter, Theresa (Paul) Patock; grandchildren: Amanda Walton, Jordon Walton, Sarah (Mike) Peterson, Nathan Patock and Grace Patock; along with her great-grandson, Jack; siblings: Jean (Jack) Bettger, John (Anita) Aamot, Susan (Ken) Kammen, Bruce (Lori) Aamot, Bob (Dawn) Aamot, and Rebecca (Terry) Culhane; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adeline and Verdie; and brother-in-law, Michael Jurgens.
