Conrad Sandbakken of Montevideo died on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 88.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 1:30 PM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to bring lawn chairs for the service. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 at the church on Tuesday.
Conrad Orville Sandbakken was born in Baxter Township on December 18, 1931 to Obert and Edna (Anderson) Sandbakken. He was confirmed at Our Saviours of Baxter in 1946. He attended and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1949. He lived on a farm west of Montevideo for over 56 years and moved to Montevideo in the fall of 2013. He had recently moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo.
Conrad was a long time member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church Baxter and served on the church council and as an usher. He was also a member of the Watson Lions Club. Conrad’s passion was to travel. He visited most of the USA plus dozens of countries overseas. He would often travel with his friend Curtis and they enjoyed tours and cruises together. Family remembers that upon his return from his travels would bring the best gifts and souvenirs back for family and friends.
Conrad is survived by his sister-in-law, Linda Sandbakken, Montevideo; brother-in-law, Maurice Nokleby, Alexandria; nieces and nephews: Ryan Nokleby, Heather Sandbakken, Nathan (Kate) Sandbakken, Daniel Sandbakken, Jason Sandbakken; great nieces and nephews: Henry, Signe and Maple Sandbakken as well extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Harlan Sandbakken, Palmer Sandbakken; and sister, Carolyn Nokleby.
