Dale Abel, of Maynard, died on Monday, October 5, 1998 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 73.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 9, 1998 at 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City with Rev. Mark Jamison officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. and the family will be present from 7-9:00 P.M.
Dale Emil Abel was born April 13, 1925 in Havelock Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of Emil and Frieda (Schwarzburg) Abel. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and he attended school in Havelock District #81. He served in the US Army during WW II. Dale was united in marriage with Doris Maus February 15, 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. They farmed in Havelock Township. Dale was a member of the Montevideo VFW and Montevideo American Legion, served on the Havelock Township Board, the Gluek Elevator Board, and was a member of the District #81 School Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball games, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; one daughter, Kathleen Johnson of Atwater, MN; five sons: Bruce Abel and his wife Kathrine of Montevideo, MN, Alan Abel and his wife Nan of Maple Grove, MN, Gary Abel and his wife Lois of Aberdeen, SD, Richard Abel of Montevideo, MN, and Charles Abel of Watson, MN; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Davis of Montevideo, MN and Dora (Eric) Redal of Tacoma, WA; and four brothers: Wilbur (Margaret) Abel of Watson, MN, Quentin Abel of Montevideo, MN, Kenneth (Sara) Abel of Seattle, WA, and Earl (Rose) Abel of Blaine, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Roger Abel in 1985; and one brother, Howard in 1945.
