Darrell L. Anderson, of Mandt Township, passed away on May 19, 2026, just a week shy of his 87th birthday, after unexpected health complications.
A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
A prayer service will be held beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Dahl officiating.
Born on May 26, 1939, in Mandt Township, Darrell spent nearly every one of his years rooted in the place he loved most.
He graduated from the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, Minnesota in 1957, and soon after joined the U.S. Army. He received an honorable discharge following the passing of his father, returning home to take on the responsibility of the family farm. What began as duty became a lifelong calling — Darrell farmed in Mandt Township for 65 years, tending the land with the kind of steady dedication that defined him.
Darrell married the love of his life, Evelyn, and together they built a family that became his greatest pride. Their children; Sandy (Rick) Macziewski, Mike (Kelly) Anderson, Sherrie Martinson, Beth (Jim) Graham; 11 grandchildren and 16 great‑grandchildren, all brought him endless joy and stories to brag about.
Outside of farming, Darrell lived a life full of simple pleasures and good company. He loved hunting and fishing, had a soft spot for classic cars and animals, and was known to dominate more than a few pinochle games — something he never let anyone forget.
Darrell will be remembered for his quiet humor, his unwavering work ethic, and the way he showed up for the people he loved. His legacy lives on in his family, his land, and the countless memories shared around kitchen tables, card games, and long country drives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Parkinson's support group in Montevideo.
