Darrell Schreck

Darrell Duane Schreck, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Edgewood Memory Care, where he had resided for the past 17 months.

Darrell was born on February 5, 1949, in Appleton, Minnesota, to Ray and Myrtle Schreck. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1966 and went on to attend Willmar Community College, where he studied auto mechanics. He later served in the U.S. Army from September 1969 to 1971 and was stationed in Germany.

For a few years, Darrell lived in the Twin Cities while working at Rosemont Engineering. He later lived briefly in Alexandria, Minnesota, before returning to Appleton. He worked part-time for the U.S. Postal Service in Madison, Minnesota, and then spent more than 30 years living in Young America while working full-time for the U.S. Postal Service in Chaska, Minnesota.

Darrell shared many fond memories of playing softball in Holloway. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, traveling to Montana to visit his uncle, warm vacations to Mexico and Costa Rica, and spending time with family playing cards. Although Darrell never married, he cherished the time he spent with his nephew, nieces, and great-nieces.

Darrell is survived by his sister-in-law, Kathy Schreck; nieces, Tara (John) Jacobson of Moorhead, Minnesota, and Becky (Joe) Jensen of Minnetonka, Minnesota; nephew, Brian (Brianna) Schreck of Glenwood, Minnesota; and five great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Myrtle Schreck; and his brother, Dennis Schreck.

The family will host a Celebration of Life in Darrell’s honor on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Zniewski Funeral Home in Appleton, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
