Darrold Boettcher of Montevideo died on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 93.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Rev. Donald S. McKee will officiate and interment will be at Dawson Cemetery in Dawson.
Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.
Darrold Wallace Boettcher was born in Granite Falls, MN on May 4, 1931 to Harry and Hulda (Nelson) Boettcher. He was raised by Vernice and Wayne Erickson until he was 17 years old and at that time he joined the United States Navy. After his discharge he moved back to Minnesota. He met Clarice Evenson in 1963 and they were married on January 14, 1964. They lived in Montevideo and then in St. Louis Park where Darrold worked at a boiler operator for Methodist Hospital. They returned to Montevideo in the early 1990's.
Darrold was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. His greatest passion was flying his airplane. In fact, he was fortunate enough to have met Charles Lindbergh and got to shake his hand.
Darrold is survived by children: Robert Boettcher, Barbara Schallock, Shirley (Alan) Marken, Charlotte (Roy) Albrecht, James Evenson, Jeffery (Judy) Evenson, Steven Evenson, and Randi Burchard and her daughter; 20 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Clarice; two sisters: Vernice (Wayne) Erickson and Isabelle (Amel) Anderson; and three brothers: Leonard (Adelle) Boettcher, Clarence Boettcher, and Frank Boettcher.
