Darryl Charles and Rose Mary Hoffman

Darryl Charles Hoffman passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at the age of 82. Just six days later, on July 30, 2026, Rose Mary “Rosie” Hoffman joined him in Heaven at the age of 80. After a lifetime of love and devotion, they are together once again in the presence of God.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2026, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, Minnesota, with the rosary being prayed at 4:30 p.m. Visitations will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026 at St. Francis Catholic Church, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Benson, Minnesota. Darryl was known for his strength, wisdom, infectious laugh, and unwavering love for his family. He found great joy in gardening, hunting, and fishing, and treasured the time spent sharing those passions with family and friends.

Rosie was the heart of their home—kind, gentle, compassionate, and deeply devoted to those she loved. She loved her flowers, whether they were in her garden or a stunning bouquet on the table. She also enjoyed entertaining and was known for preparing the most delicious meals and desserts. Her beautiful spirit touched everyone she met.

Their love story began at a teen dance at the Kato Ballroom in Mankato, Minnesota. They were united in marriage on January 25, 1964, at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake, Minnesota, during an intense blizzard. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and love. Their dedication to their church and community was recognized when both received the Bishop’s Medal of Lifetime Service.

Darryl was born on March 5, 1944, to Donald and Daisy (Flowers) Hoffman. He graduated from Cleveland High School in Cleveland, Minnesota. Throughout his career, Darryl served as manager of the Benson Alfalfa Plant and later Glacial Plains Cooperative before retiring in 2007.

Rosie was born on December 18, 1945, to Cletus and Valeria (Haefner) Frederick. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy in Mankato, Minnesota. She served as a dispatcher/jailer for Swift County for almost 30 years before retiring in 2010.

Darryl and Rosie are survived by their five children: Ryan (Amy) Hoffman of Raytown, Missouri; Julie (Richard) Kunz of Eagle Lake, Minnesota; Randy (Heidi) Hoffman of New York Mills, Minnesota; Thomas (Carrie) Hoffman of Nicollet, Minnesota; and Michael Hoffman of Benson, Minnesota.

They are also survived by 18 grandchildren: Jessica (Darrick) Kueser, Jessica Swartz, Dakota, Stephen, Nicholas, and Jodi Hoffman, Bradley Kunz and Megan (Andy) Schultze, Evan and Haley Hoffman, Ruby, Ambria, and Wesley Hoffman, Gabby Hoiland, Amelia and Cole Hoffman; and four great-grandchildren: Kaydence and Sabian Deterding, Brianna and Brilee Swartz. They were preceded in death by their infant granddaughters, Nicole Kay and Brenna Nicole Hoffman.

Darryl’s family includes Bonnie Garvin of Le Center; Barbara Roemhildt of Elysian; Betty Kaupa of New Ulm; Tim (Sarah) Hoffman of Henning; sister-in-law Lynnette Hoffman of Cleveland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Donnie Hoffman; and brothers-in-law: Joe Garvin, Lloyd Roemhildt, and Rudy Kaupa.

Rosie’s family includes Barb Hoffman of Mankato; Linda Franke (Jim Rossow) of Mankato; Larry (Barb) Frederick of Berthoud, Colorado; Virginia (Chuck) Flitter of Pemberton; Nick (Linda) Frederick of Kilkenny; Andy (Marilyn) Frederick of St. Peter; Mary Kay (Len) Carpenter of Eagle Lake; Clete Frederick of Eagle Lake; Ralph (Nan) Frederick of Duluth; Linnette (Pat) Anderson of Madison Lake; Philip (Kathy Bouley) Frederick of Dayton; Darlene (Jim) Dauk of Eagle Lake; sister-in-law Caroline Frederick of North Mankato; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Clem, Claver, David, and Danny Frederick; brothers-in-law Willie Franke and Jim Hoffman; and sister-in-law Kim Frederick.

While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Darryl and Rosie are reunited and embraced by God’s eternal love. Their legacy of faith, kindness, generosity, and unconditional love will live on through all who were blessed to know them.
