Debra Marie Blom was born on June 12, 1953, in Willmar, MN, to Delos and Vera (Knutson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Church in rural Montevideo. Debra grew up on the farm and attended country school in her early years before graduating from Montevideo High School in 1971. After high school, she attended Patricia Stevens Finishing School in the Twin Cities. Debra held many jobs through the years, working in Montevideo at the Ford Dealership, Walmart, and the C-Store. She loved serving people and particularly enjoyed her roles in customer service.
She met the love of her life, Chuck, in Montevideo in the spring of 1971. They were married on August 25, 1973, at Jevnaker Church. To this union, two children were born: Aaron and Alicia. They made their home on her family's farm a few years after her father's passing in 1979. After many years of farm life, they moved into Montevideo in 2014. They were longtime members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Among many things, she enjoyed watching the birds, playing with her cats, and spending time with her family. Her greatest joys were trips to the lake cabin with her family where she enjoyed sitting in the sun, watching the kids play, and reading her favorite books.
Debra will be remembered for her infectious smile and never letting someone close to her leave without saying "I love you." She will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck; children, Aaron (Amanda) Blom and Alicia Blom of Montevideo; grandchildren, Kiya, Hayden, Gage, and Cullin; a sister LouAnn Montgomery of Richfield, MN; a brother-in-law Jon (Gayle) Blom of Lakeville, MN; along with many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
