Della Schneider of Montevideo died on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Brookside Senior Living in Montevideo at the age of 96.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Jeff Fitzkappes officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.
Della A. Hoaas was born August 16, 1927 to Ole and Clara (Struxness) Hoaas. She grew up on the farm in the Milan area with her many siblings. She often shared stories of working on the farm with friends and family.
Della and her two children, Tom and Tam, settled in Montevideo in the mid-50s and she was employed at the S & L Store where she worked until retirement age. She then worked at the Country Cobbler shoe store for some additional years. Della enjoyed working. She had fun meeting people and helping her customers.
When not working, Della loved to read, knit, crochet, and sew. She played cards and spent hours doing jig saw puzzles. She also loved to dance! She enjoyed cooking and loved her family! Most of the family holidays, birthdays, occasions were celebrated starting with a meal at “Grandma Della's” dining room table. Della was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary.
Della was a beloved mom, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Della is survived by her children Tom Bowler, (daughter-in-law Gwen Nokleby) and Tammy (Ray) Sauder. She leaves behind six grandchildren: David Schneider (Jenny Stevens), Cara Sauder (Michael) Nurara, Matt (Carrie) Bowler, Heidi (Mike) Thompson, Emily Bowler (Ben Vlaminck) and Michael (Madi) Bowler, her great grandchildren Brayden, Cole, & Isaac Thompson, Ava and Nick Bowler, Adrian Bowler, Evelyn and Leo Sauder-Nuara.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Clara (Struxness) Hoaas, her siblings Lillian, Olga, Alice, Gladys, Florence, John, Oscar, Helen, Clarice, Grace, her great-grandson, Charlie Sauder-Nuara, and beloved nieces and nephew.
