Dennis Schueller, of Dawson died on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Johnson Memorial Care Center at the age of 82.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Dawson with Father Mark Mallak officiating. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dennis Schueller was born on May 16, 1935 to Arthur and Rose (Balk) Schueller in Howard, SD. The family moved to Dawson where Dennis attended school and graduated from Dawson High School in 1954. Dennis was united in marriage to Harriet Arlt in Bird Island on November 5, 1960. They had three sons: Paul, Gerald and Steven.
Dennis was a farmer all his life. He cared for milk cows, pigs and even geese. After he retired from farming he became an avid gardener and worked part-time at a local elevator. He served in the National Guard for a period of time and was a member of the Oscar-Lee American Legion Post 177. He was a member of the Dawson Jaycees and also served on the Lac qui Parle County Fair Board for a number of years. Dennis was an active member of St. James Catholic Church and served the Parish by mowing the cemetery and church lawn for many years. His hobbies included: bowling, cards and vegetable gardening.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Harriet; his sons: Paul (Dahlia) Schueller, Renville, Gerald (Missy)Schueller, Dawson and Steven (Lisa) Schueller, Meridian, Idaho; grandchildren: Amanda (John) Crowley, Justin (friend Tara) Schueller, Kristin Schueller, Gregory Schueller, Felicity Schueller and Arabella Schueller; step-grandchildren: Niccole, Cynthia and Joshua; great-grandchildren: Ian and Liam; and 9 step great-grandchildren; brothers: Leon (MaryAnn) Schueller, Dawson and Gordon (Rhoda) Schueller, Madison; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Robert, Cletus, and Adrian Schueller; sisters: Dorinda Williams and Marilyn Adrian; sisters-in-law: Patricia Schueller, Marie Schueller, and Alice Schueller; and brother-in-law, Herb Adrian.
