Doug Pederson, after suffering from COPD, passed away at his home on May 28, 2026.
A "Celebration of Doug's life" will be held at Lac qui Parle State Park Shelter House lower campground (no fee that day) on Saturday, September 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
Douglas Alan Pederson was born March 6, 1950 to Ernie and Mae (Peterson) Pederson in Montevideo. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1968 and was a Vietnam Veteran. In 1974, he married Marie Waller and they celebrated 52 years together this year.
Doug was an artist of many venues, from scrimshaw, drawings, furniture, knives, wood carvings, bone sculptures and more. He also was owner of his own business, Doug's Trimming and Gardens. The last year of his life he became an author of an autobiography "The Art of a Hunter."
He is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Brook; two grandsons: Bergen and Noah; and two sisters: Sue (Larry) Schei and Marcia (John) Neely.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
