Elmer Gottschalk, 78, of Montevideo, died July 21, 1998 at Abbot - Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 1998 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Rev. Robert Ford will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Friday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.
Elmer William Gottschalk was born November 1, 1919 in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, MN the son of Carl and Augusta (Roske) Gottschalk. He was baptized at Omro Church and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Boyd. He attended country schools in MN. Elmer was united in marriage with Pearl Hansen June 25, 1944 at the Harrison Presbyterian Church of rural Spicer. He farmed in the Montevideo area and drove semi-truck part time for Marty Punt, Pat Olson, and Fagen’s. Pearl died June 12, 1976 and he later moved into Montevideo. Elmer was active at the United Methodist Church where he had served as an officer.
He is survived by three sisters: Ruth Golden of Montevideo, MN, Dorothy Boike and her husband Elmer of Montevideo, MN and Ethel Bjorndahl and her husband Roger of Mercedes, TX; two sisters-in-law: Bessie Gottschalk of Aitkin, MN and Karemae (Gordon) Gravely of Spicer, MN; special friend, Joanne Wilking of Montevideo, MN; seven nieces; and nine nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Pearl; two brothers: Eugene in infancy and Alfred; and two brothers-in-law: Francis Golden and Leonard Anderson.
