Erna Beatrice Rohs, age 100, formerly of Montevideo, passed away peacefully at the Benedictine Living Community in Northfield, Minnesota on July 12, 2026.
A memorial service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 27, following a 12:30 p.m. visitation. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Erna was born on October 16, 1925 to Carl and Margaret (Aalderks) Yock. In 1943 she graduated from Danube High School and then began her work career as a teller at First National Bank in Montevideo where she met her future husband, Eldon. They were married on June 14, 1946. Eldon passed away in 2000.
Montevideo was the community Erna considered "home". She held part time jobs in various retail shops while raising her two children. Erna was active as an Eastern Star and P.E.O. member, holding several offices. When she was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church she took part in church circles and then later served as a lector at First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud
She is survived by her children, Colleen (Dave) Gardner of Lucas, Texas and Tom (Katie) Rohs of Northfield, Minnesota: three grandchildren, Bill Gardner, Gretchen (Simon) Nussbaum, and Philip (Sara) Rohs and four great-grandsons, Hunter Rohs, Hank Nussbaum, Dylan Rohs and Gus Nussbaum; by her sisters, Henrietta Helgeson, AnnaBelle DeBlauw, and Carol (Lyle) Jahnke. She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon and siblings: Bessie Gort, Cornell Yock and Carl Yock Jr.
