Ernest Stennes, 69, of rural Montevideo, died Wednesday, August 18, 1999 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 21, 1999 at 10:30 A.M. at Watson Lutheran Church. Rev. Larry Olson will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Ernest Allen Stennes was born December 30, 1929 at Montevideo, MN the son of James and Alice (Nygaard) Stennes. He was baptized and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church, graduated from Montevideo High School in 1947 and also attended Augsburg College. Ernie was united in marriage with Beverly Osmundson August 23, 1959 at Sacred Heart, MN. They have farmed near Montevideo their entire life. Ernie served in the MN Army National Guard and was a member of the Watson Lions Club, the Melvin Jones Fellowship of Lions, American Legion Post #59, Chippewa Co Farm Bureau and the MN Valley Antique Farm Machinery Association. He enjoyed collecting antique gas engines, toy tractors and antiques, and doing woodworking. Ernie was active at the Watson Lutheran Church where he held various offices and served on the cemetery board.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three children: Deanne Klang and her husband Jim of Rice Lake, WI, Darlene Jurgenson of Montevideo, MN, and David Stennes and his wife Lisa of Granite Falls, MN; and seven grandchildren: Heather Jurgenson, Katie Jurgenson, Nathan Klang, Benjamin Klang, Joseph Klang, Samantha Stennes, and Cameron Stennes.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother in infancy.
