Fred G. Petersen, 64, of rural Montevideo, died at his home Sunday, May 16, 1999.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 21, 1999 at 10:30 A.M. at Watson Lutheran Church. Rev. Larry Olson will officiate and interment will be at Watson Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. The family will be present from 5-8:00 P.M. and there will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Fred George Petersen was born September 24, 1934 in Rheiderland Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of Ralph and Saide (Hoogheem) Petersen. He was baptized at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Fred attended rural schools. He farmed north of Clara City until 1969 when he moved to a farm west of Montevideo. He was a member of the Lions Club, served on the Senior Citizens Center Board, and was a Hospice and Prairie Five Worker. Fred was active at Watson Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Board and had sang in the choir.
He is survived by four children: Diane Huwe and her husband Daniel Elroy of Sioux Falls, SD, AlDean Petersen of Prinsburg, MN, Debra Larsen and her husband Robert of Montevideo, MN, and Cindy Marrero and her husband Jose of Kiowa, CO; four grandchildren: Daniel Dean Huwe, DeDra Kay Huwe, Joseph Marrero, and Jordan Marrero; one brother, Kenneth R. Petersen and his wife Sarah of Blomkest, MN; three sisters: Katie Pitt and her husband Marvin of Montevideo, MN, Marion Mahlum and her husband Bob of Sacred Heart, MN, and Jeanette Giinthiir and her husband Earl of Kerkhoven, MN; and a dear close friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
