Grace Lucille Steffenson

Grace Steffenson, of Montevideo, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.

A private family burial will be held in the Kviteseid Cemetery at a later date.

Grace Lucille Paulson was born March 22, 1930, in Lac qui Parle County, Madison, MN to parents Gerhard and Lillie (Avelsgaard-Skjei) Paulson. Grace Lucille was baptized in Lutheran faith May 4, 1930 by Pastor O.L. Onerheim, at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church. She was confirmed June 25, 1944 by Pastor C. T. Jenson at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Grace attended school District #17 Chippewa County, then Milan High School and then changed to Appleton High School.

Grace was united in marriage on October 30th, 1947 to Arthur Marvin Steffenson by Pastor C.T.

Jenson at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Their marriage verse was 1 Corinthians 13:13, colors were symbols red, white and blue for faith, hope and love abide. They farmed rural Montevideo, were members of Watson Lutheran Church until 1956. In March 1956 they moved to their farm and became members of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN. They lived 43 years on the farm until Arthur's death on December 8, 1999. Grace continued to live alone 2 years on their farms.

They enjoyed their farm life together, took part in Kviteseid Lutheran church as ardent members.

Grace was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible school teacher for a number of years. They were a do-it-together couple. Grace was a helpmate, homemaker, baker, loved to do handiwork, crocheting and sewing. Grace and Arthur were ardent listeners of Christian radio and area church services.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Julie (Gary) Boettcher; son-in-law, Terry Dolven; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; daughter, Arlyce Dolven; and other extended family.
