Gunhild Kvistero died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo at the age of 91.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, Rural Montevideo. Rev. Gregory Gabriel will officiate and interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:30 P.M.
Gunhild Severina (Mikkelson) Kvistero was born April 19, 1913 in Hantho Township, Lac Qui Parle County, MN the daughter of Tollef and Hendrine (Halvorson) Mikkelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. Gunhild was united in marriage with Peter Kvistero March 16, 1941 at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church in rural Louisburg. They lived and farmed near Granite Falls until moving in 1949 to their farm in Mandt Township, Chippewa County, MN where they lived for 52 years. They moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo in 2001 and Peter later died August 17 of that year. Gunhild enjoyed being active in Jevnaker Lutheran Church where she participated in the ladies aid and altar guild. She was a wonderful homemaker and was always giving of her time and talents in helping others and remembering their special events. She liked to visit with friends and family, garden, quilt and create hardanger pieces, which she generously gave as gifts to friends and family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Norway, where they developed many life-long friendships.
She is survived by four children: Orlan Kvistero and his wife JoAnn of Detroit Lakes, MN, Keith Kvistero and his wife Marlys of Milan, MN, Marie Kvistero of Eagan, MN, and Linda Jorgenson of Concord, CA; seven grandchildren: Allan Kvistero, Kevin (Marlene) Kvistero, Julie Tripp, Aaron (Shari) Kvistero, Sarah Kvistero, Ryan (Karen Baab) Raaum, and Ben Jorgenson; seven great-grandchildren: Michael, Diane, Dalton, Braydin and Cole Kvistero and Kaitlyn and Jacob Tripp; one sister, Anna Kleven of Appleton, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Peter; one great-granddaughter, Zoey Rose Tripp; five brothers: George (Eddie), Jens, Thelman, Thoralf, and Rueben Mikkelson; and eight sisters: Clara Lund, Manga Lund, Jorgena Peterson, Rhoda Nelson, Helma Dalen, Thelma Hegland, Mabel Borstad, and Gudrun Breen.
