Henry Hanson, formerly of Milan, died on Friday, January 11, 2002 at the Appleton Municipal Nursing Home at the age of 91.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Henry Andrew Hanson was born on December 8, 1910 in Kragero Twp. of Chippewa Co., MN to Hans and Annie (Benson) Hanson. He was baptized on Dec. 11, 1910 and confirmed on October 30, 1926 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church. He attended rural school at the Severson school and graduated from Milan High School. He formed a farming partnership with his brother, Carl, and farmed the home farm until dissolving the partnership after Carl’s marriage in 1941. Henry purchased and operated the Karrigan farm ½ mile east of Milan and also did custom baling. On July 15, 1961 he was united in marriage to Grace Fox. They left the farm and moved into Appleton in 1971. Henry moved to Pleasant View Apartments in Appleton in June of 1994 and has been a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home since June of 2001. He is a lifelong member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Mildred Hanson of Montevideo; a nephew, Russ Hanson and his wife Rose Ann of Milan; nieces, Marlys Kvistero and her husband Keith of Milan and Jane Link and her husband Marvin of Milan; as well as by several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Grace in 1985; a brother, Carl Hanson; a sister, Alice Fremo and by an infant brother.
