Howard Zietlow died Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at CCM Health in Montevideo at the age of 77.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Marie Eckberg will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service.
Howard Stanley Zietlow was born January 28, 1947 in Clarkfield, MN the son of Alfred and Alice (Kompelien) Zietlow. He grew up on a farm in Tyro Township with his nine siblings. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, of rural Boyd. Howard attended school in Boyd and graduated from Boyd High School in 1965. In 1967, Howard entered the US Army and served in Vietnam. Howard was united in marriage with Sharon Negaard at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Canby on July 13, 1968. They then made their home in Montevideo. Howard attended Granite Vocation Tech School and worked at Chandler Industries for a short time. He then went to work at the gas station and Trailways café in Montevideo where he worked for 40 years. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the VFW, Heritage Hill and the Cushman Scooter Club. Howard and Sharon travelled to several Cushman Scooter conventions over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; a daughter, Nicole (Dan) Norman of Montevideo; two grandchildren: Aubrey and Miles; a brother, Ordell Zietlow of Boyd,; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his siblings: Ardine Zietlow, Marin (Carol) Zietlow, Phyllis (Harold) Bach, Marlyce (Glen) Miller, Donald (Florence) Zietlow, Jean (Howard) Ellefson, David Zietlow, and Louise (Earl) Odden; as well as several other extended family and friends
