Vange Christenson, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, April 1, 2004 at her home in the presence of her family at the age of 76.
Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday from 6:30 - 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Ione Evangeline “Vange” (Maass) Christenson was born on May 4, 1927 in Winthrop, MN to Paul and Hedwig (Zirott) Maass. She was baptized on June 5, 1927 in Winthrop, MN and confirmed on April 6, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1945. On September 4, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harlen Christenson in Montevideo. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Farmers COOP Creamery, as a receptionist at the US Navy and along with her husband owned and operated a popcorn stand in Montevideo. She was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed working with crafts, flower gardening and playing canasta.
She is survived by her husband, Harlen; five children: Michael Christenson and his wife LeAnne of Valdez, AK; James Christenson and his wife Kathy of Lakeville, MN; Patricia Christenson of Coeur D’Alene, ID; Mary Lou Christenson of Hayden Lake, ID and Jon Christenson and his wife Carla of Zimmerman, MN; nine grandchildren: Bailey, Nikki, Jeni, Ryan, Brendan and Daniel Christenson; Amy Brock and her husband Michael; Joshua Hooker and his wife Tara; and Cassie Wallace and her husband Andrew; one great-granddaughter, Alexia Hooker; a step-grandson, Kyle Voss; and one sister, Edyth Skelly of Villard, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Mark and Scotte Christenson; and one brother-in-law, Dale Skelly.
