James Thaves, 58, of Montevideo, died December 26, 1998 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at 1:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating.
James Ernest Thaves was born February 19, 1940 at Minneapolis, MN the son of Ernest and Esther (Hanson) Thaves. He attended school and grew to adulthood there, graduating from Columbia Heights high School in 1958. James attended Northwestern Electronics school for training as an electronic technician, completing his studies in 1960. He worked for Control Data and was transferred to MTI in Montevideo in 1975. He was united in marriage with Beverly Erp January 17, 1978 in Montevideo. They had a lake home at Osakis. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three daughters: Nicole Thaves of New Prague, MN, Dawn (Rick) Sterbuck of Coon Rapids, MN, and Elizabeth Kocher of Montevideo, MN; five grandchildren: Jessica Loper, Abby Sterbuck, David Kocher, Andrew Kocher, and Hailey Kocher; one sister, Dorothy (John) Happel of Minneapolis, MN; and one niece, Nancy (Pete) Caliguiri of Minneapolis, MN and her son Adam Karjala.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
