Janice Lee Marholz of Chaska, formerly of Maynard and Montevideo died on October 24, 2024 at her home, Chaska Heights Senior Living at the age of 88.
Janice Lee Rasmussen Marholz was born in Maynard, MN on August 29 , 1936 to Nels and Neilsina Cristina (Jorgensen) Rasmussen. She was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Maynard. She attended and graduated from Maynard High School. She was united in marriage to Duane Marholz on August 7, 1954 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They had three children: Terry, Kurt and Sue.
Jan was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo and then in later years was a member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Victoria. She was also an active member of the Montevideo Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included: golf, sewing, cross-stitch, baking, cards, refinishing furniture, paint by numbers and jigsaw puzzles. Through Duane’s military service Jan and Duane were able to travel together throughout the world. They wintered in Arizona, and spent long summer weekends on their hobby farm near Montevideo. They enjoyed the friendships they made any place they lived.
Jan treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sharing time and stories with family and friends. Duane and Jan moved to Chaska Heights Senior Living in October 2016 and fell in love with the community of friends and neighbors living there. Jan continued living at Chaska Heights after Duane’s death in 2017.
Jan is survived by her children: Terry (Mary) Marholz, Waconia, MN, Kurt (Carol) Marholz, Eagan, MN, Sue Marty, Minneapolis; MN; five grandchildren; Melissa (Dylan), Nathan (Allison), Ben (Stacy), Laura, Dylan, two great-grandchildren; Everett and Charlie, and 23 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane; and siblings: Raymond Rasmussen, Oscar Rasmussen, Teddy Rasmussen, Norma Schulke, Mable Fundingsland, Francis Cruit, and Betty Nelson.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Pheasants Forever ( pheasantsforever.org).
