Janis Lorraine Leese

Janis Leese, of Montevideo, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 94.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Maynard Lutheran Church in Maynard, MN. Pastor Joyce Capp will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Today Heaven gained an angel, a special one indeed. With the Lord’s arms open to welcome her home, he said “Janis,” with a twinkle in his eye, “you are free from the Alzheimer's disease and now are pain free. Your time on earth was very well spent. You were born on July 8, 1930 to Martin and Bertha Larson and were the eldest of four sisters and six brothers. Growing up in a farm family, you kept very busy. You were Baptized and confirmed at Rock Valley Church and have kept your faith very strong.

You married Jake on November 23, 1947, a union that brought you joy, love, and twelve children. Only a strong woman would know what to do after losing your husband way too soon in 1979. Cleaning businesses, doing daycare, and taking care of your family kept you busy, but you still had time to be a leader of Girl Scouts, participate in Ladies Aid, and serve your church in many ways, always believing that I would guide you every step of the way. The hundreds of quilts you made for your family and church, will always keep us wrapped in your love. With all that love, strength, and faith you have shown for all to see, you have been the best daughter, sister, mom, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great grandmother there will ever be.”

Leese is survived by Geraldine (Dennis) Jenson, Linda Hallson (friend Ed Shepherd), Darlene, Donna (daughter in law), Orlene (Ron) Gorder, Laura (fiancé Norm Schneider), Harlen (Robyn), Karla (Joe) Buseman, Brad (Kim), Julie (David) Pedersen, Janell (Dominick) Bush, 22 grandchildren, 25 great granchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 4 brothers.

Greeting her in Heaven is her husband (Jake), sons Allen, and Leslie, Grandson Christoher Buseman, Great grandson Hunter Tebben, her parents, 1 sister, and 4 brothers.
