June Marie Hegland

June 2, 1951 — February 20, 2026

St. Louis Park

June Marie Hegland, age 74, passed away at the Methodist Hospital on Friday evening Feb. 20, 2026. June was born June 2, 1951, the second child of Hjalmer (Jolly) and Adeline Hegland. She was baptized and confirmed at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1969 and went to Willmar Community College upon graduation to study art.

While growing up on the farm, June enjoyed drawing and always had an artistic flair, enjoying dance and music, which led her to become a professional ballroom dancer. She peformed as a National ballroom dancer in her early 20’s and earned many a trophy at dance competitions in the Latin salsa, tango and cha cha categories. Sadly, rheumatoid arthritis cut that ambition short, although she was still able to teach dancing at Fred Astair studios. She eventually went back to school and found a career in medical coding at Park Nicollet in St Louis Park, MN where she lived and worked until her retirement 10 years ago. During her battle with arthritis, June invented and patented a ring that could be used to help straighten the finger so one could function better. June’s faith kept her going for all these years. She was a devoted follower of Christ and enjoyed reading and listening to various Christian authors and evangelists.

June was preceded in death by her father Hjalmer. She is survived by her mother Adeline, her sister Delores (Scott) Lindell; brother Jonathon (Lu) Hegland and nephew Erik Lindell, niece Kirsten (Michael) Savidge; nephew Nils Hegland, nephew Lars Hegland. God bless the memory of June Hegland.

In accordance with June’s wishes, there will not be a funeral, but a private family service at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Appleton, MN on Feb. 27 at 1:00. She will be interned at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery.
