Lindsey Anne Gunderson Klimek was born on June 8, 1984, in Starbuck, Minnesota, to Rodney and Colleen Gunderson, the youngest of three children. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Catholic Church. Lindsey attended Benson Public Schools and graduated with the class of 2002. After graduation Lindsey attended Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minnesota, and earned her associate’s degree. She married Jason Klimek and they were blessed with three children. They lived in Glenwood and later divorced.
Lindsey worked at the Glenwood State Bank, Clyde Machine, and for the Minnewaska Elementary School, where she found her true calling - helping children as a paraprofessional. She moved back to Benson where she worked at the CO-OP Credit Union and Northside Elementary School as a paraprofessional. Lindsey was loved by both staff and students. Everywhere she went in the community students would call out for Miss Lindsey!
Lindsey was a devoted mom to Carly, Bentley, and Mya; they came first. She was known for her big heart and her kind spirit. Lindsey’s smile was infectious and would light up the room. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader whether it was for her kids, nieces, nephews, or other kids at their events. Lindsey could be heard cheering them on at high school rodeo, barrel races, baseball, football, wrestling, gymnastics; you name it, she was there. Lindsey was an extremely generous person and even amid tragedy she continued to give through organ donation.
Lindsey passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from complications due to a heart attack. She was 41 years old.
