Lolly Marienau of Montevideo died on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Brookside Manor Senior Living at the age of 97.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Pastor Keith Brustuen will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 6 to 8PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lorraine “Lolly” Hildegard (Jorgenson) Marienau was born on November 24, 1925 on the family farm near Montevideo to George and Mathilda (Axness) Jorgenson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church, rural Boyd. She attended and graduated from Boyd High School. Lolly was united in marriage with Arlo Marienau on October 5, 1947 at St. Petri Lutheran. They spent 48 years together on their farm southeast of Montevideo before moving into town in 1995. Lolly worked as a nursing assistant at the Montevideo Hospital prior to marriage. She returned to work there as a ward clerk for several years in the 1970's.
Lolly was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in Women’s Assembly and teaching Sunday school. She also was active with her girls in 4-H. She enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, and especially spending time at their trailer on the lake. She loved fresh flowers, playing Skip-Bo with her girls, and listening to Daniel O’Donnell. Above all, she cherished time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters: Catherine Marienau, Oak Park, IL, Karen Marienau, St. Paul, MN, Lori (Craig) Marienau Kittelson, Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren: Katy (Dan) Murtha, Rachel (Tom) Meester, Anna Marienau Roth; three great-grandchildren: Tucker Meester, Ronnie Meester, Tatum Meester, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlo; seven brothers: Arthur, Raymond, Harris, George, Irvin, Milford, and LeRoy; seven sisters: Judith Jorgenson, Myrtle Brown, Helen Christopherson, Esther Strand, Anita Jorgenson, Delores Christenson, Olga Dahl; several family members and friends.
