Lonnie Torgeson died Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at his home in Montevideo at the age of 62.
Graveside services will be held at Watson Lutheran Church Cemetery on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 1:30 PM followed by a celebration of life at the American Legion in Milan from 2:30 - 5:00 PM.
Lonnie Ray Torgeson was born April 30, 1963 in Montevideo, MN the son of Levern and Harriet (Lee) Torgeson. He graduated from Milan High School in 1981 and then attended Alexandria Tech. He was united in marriage with Julie Kleven August 20, 1983 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Sgt. Torgeson was sworn into the US Marine Corps in 1986 and Honorably Discharged in 1994. He took great pride in serving his country. Lonnie was self employed in the construction industry. Lonnie enjoyed cooking and baking as well hunting and fishing. When his daughter asked him if he could sum up life's mastery into twelve skills, he said determination, discipline, dedication, thankfulness, responsibility, selflessness, knowledge, loyalty, pride, resilience, 'Ask Dad', and be kind. He said the only thing that keeps him sane is his kitchen. And when accused of being a super hero, he said: "I'm just a man, a Dad, and some other stuff mixed in." Lonnie took his final steps sharing food with his neighbors and he lived for helping and giving to others.
He is survived by two daughters: Bria Torgeson of Minneapolis and Kees Torgeson of Waconia; a sister, Lynn Molden of Watson; a brother, Scott (Arleth) Torgeson; and seven nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Abner (Nettie) Torgeson and Dagmar Lee; his parents, Levern (Harriet) Torgeson; and a brother-in-law, Bruce Molden.
