Lyndon Harold Nordaune

Lyndon Nordaune of Little Canda died on Thursday, August 28, 2026.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the services at the church.

"I have had a good life ...l don't have to ask for more... I have had a good life and not many people who are 84 years old can say that - All is well." Lyndon Harold Nordaune was born in Montevideo on August 14, 1942 and was raised and educated in this rural Scandinavian community amongst a large family and friends. He was later joined by brother Douglas and sister Vernice. Lyndon enjoyed education, especially math, and as his family moved to various farms he would attend a number of rural country schools. Harold and lona kept the family grounded in faith at their home church at Baxter. Lyndon attended Sunday School faithfully at Baxter and had perfect attendance in Sunday School for 12 years. He was recognized for this dedication on May 24, 1959 with a Bible made of wood from olive trees grown in Jerusalem. It held a special place in Lyndon's heart.

 Lyndon continued his education and graduated from Dawson High School in 1960. He attended Augsburg College and the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, MN. Lyndon and Barbara (Lien) Nordaune were married on June 30, 1967 and went on to raise 3 children - Dennis, Jeff and Laurie to share in the adventures. Following his graduation in 1968 from business college, he was employed by Hennepin County as a Data Processing Systems Analyst. The computers at that time were large and not mobile and filled the entire rooms). His desire for the rural life led him back to Montevideo where he began the Moon-Nordaune IH Farm Equipment Dealership in 1972. In time, the business expanded and relocated to East of Montevideo along Hwy 7. Adventure later led him to a real estate sales office in Alexandria, MN, and in 1983 to a water well parts and oil well supplies store in Williston, ND for water well and seismic drilling rigs in the oil fields of North Dakota and Montana. 

The world economy shook our tree and we returned to Glenwood, Minnesota and established Minnewaska Tractor and Marine in 1993. This combined Lyndon's favorite things - farm equipment, farmers, the lakes area, boats, fishing, fishermen and the opportunity to continue annual fishing trips. The fishing trips started in 1977 with his brother Doug and 2 special fishing buddies, Les Stewart and Leo Abel. The 4 of them made a winning team.

 In 2002, Lyndon retired from the business world and headquartered his adventures from our home in Glenwood. He was able to have his children and grandchildren be his focus as they are athletic and active and he is very proud of them. He is proud of the men and women they have grown to be and is so honored to be their dad and granddad. Lyndon passed at our home in Little Canada, MN on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and celebrated his 84th birthday a week earlier. "Yes, I have had a good life!" Lyndy, until we meet again, stay strong and greet our family and friends that you meet along the way.

Lyndon is preceded in death by his parents Harold and lona (Beaty) Nordaune, mother and father in law James and Loraine (Severson) Lien, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lyndon is survived by his wife Barb, of 59 years; Sons Dennis (Tina), Jeff (Brooke); Daughter Laurie (Erick Larson); Grand children Marit (Jacques Harvieux), Kearby Larson (Haley), Tyler Nordaune, Cooper Nordaune, Mark Nordaune, Gabe Nordaune; Brother Douglas (Caroline) Nordaune and Sister Vernice (Ron) Greiman; Sisters in law Virginia Hirschi, Mary Ann (Mark) McBurney; several cousins and many, many friends.
