Margaret Hisken, formerly of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, May 11, 1999 in Waconia, MN at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 14, 1999 at 11:00 AM at Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo with Rev. Don Ringnalda officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Margaret Esther (Spieker) was born n April 10, 1917 in George, IA to Enno and Elizabeth (Veenker) Spieker. She was baptized and confirmed at Zoar Presbyterian Church in George, IA and grew up there. On February 3, 1937 she was united in marriage to George Hisken at the Zoar Church Parsonage. They lived in Little Rock, IA, Ellsworth, MN and Pipestone, MN and she worked at Blue Mound for five years. They later moved to Montevideo, MN in 1976 before moving to Bloomington in 1978 and later back to Montevideo in 1983. In addition to farming, they served as apartment managers at Cedar Cliff Apartments in Bloomington, MN. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church, a Sunday School Teacher, church choir member and a member of Guild. She was also a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and helped with meals on wheels. She had been living in Mound, MN the past three months.
Margaret is survived by her husband, George; two daughters: Sandra Young of Mound, MN and Janice Mulligan of Parker, CO; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mabel Beek and Lucille Briggs of Sioux Falls, SD, Rachel Garnmeister of Davenport, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by four sisters: Grace Anderson, Frances Goembel, Ida Stoneall, and Tillie Spieker.
