Mark Dahl

Mark Dahl passed away, surrounded by his loving family, at his home on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the age of 75.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Black Oak Lake Cemetery in rural Montevideo.

Mark Brian Dahl was born in Montevideo on January 10, 1951, to Norris “Norrie” and Ione “Onie” (Kalberg) Dahl. He was baptized at Black Oak Lake Church and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1969. Mark studied electrical engineering for a few quarters at two technical colleges before getting his first job at Kenwood Homes. He started in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry and quickly worked his way up to foreman. In 1973, he returned to farming when the family expanded the dairy business. Dahl Farms eventually became Dahl Brothers which eventually became Dahl Brothers Ventures as Mark spent the better portion of his life working side by side with his brother on and off the farm. Some of their side quests included patenting and producing a new type of bale feeder, experimenting with microwaving topsoil, sculpting chainsaw art at county fairs, and remodeling and flipping houses. In the late 90’s they bought and ran the Monte Electric Motor company. By 2000 they had added a laundromat in the same building. Three years later they built another laundromat in Redwood Falls MN. In 2013 they built a new laundromat in Montevideo, in which Mark was still fixing machines until two weeks ago. He also served 12 years as a part-time police officer, 16 years as a Chippewa County Commissioner, and several years as a board member on the Black Oak Lake Cemetery committee, the Chippewa County Hospital Board, the Chippewa County Family Services Board , the Chippewa County Fair Board, and the Sparta Township Board, among several others. He was also a member of the American Legion Riders.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Pamela Bang on April 10th, 1976 at Salem Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two children, Samantha and Brady. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren on the farm, at the lake cabin (he named “Red Duck”), on family vacations, or “out to eat” as often as possible. He lit bonfires day and night, loved movies - from modern romantic comedies to black and white war documentaries - and could be found riding one of his multiple golf carts everywhere he went at the farm or at the lake. He endlessly fixed and fiddled with machinery and equipment, seemed to buy every attachment ever made, and loved technology. He owned three ipads on which he watched how-to videos on Youtube, checked the stock market, and played solitaire daily. Amazon allowed him to acquire the latest and greatest gadgets to show off to his grandchildren - anything that incorporated hidden gears, secret magnets, or a surprising function. He also thoroughly enjoyed taking all his friends' money in weekly poker games held in his garage.

He is survived by his children: Samantha Seeman and Brady (Charlynn) Dahl; seven grandchildren: James, Brody, and Charley Seeman and Sonny, Sawyer, Marlo, and Roman Dahl; his sisters, Marsha Dahl and Anita Hagen; sister-in-law, Debbie Dahl; brothers-in-law, Denny Toftness and Gary Kleven; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pam; parents, Norris and Ione; brother, Jeff Dahl; sister, Debra Kleven; sister-in-law, Connie Toftness; brother-in-law, Dave Hagen; and nephew, Shawn Hagen.
