Mark Weckwerth of Montevideo passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Luther Haven Nursing Home, at the age of 72.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo, with Pastor Sam Kautz officiating.
Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 5, at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo, with a prayer service at 5:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on the day of the service.
Mark Leland Weckwerth was born on April 25, 1952, in Montevideo to Arnold and Marie (Gruchow) Weckwerth. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo. He attended Montevideo Schools, graduating high school in 1970. On October 30, 1971, Mark married the love of his life, Carmen (Hodge). They made their home northeast of Montevideo on the farm. To this union, four children were born. Mark spent all of his working life as a farmer. He also spent five years working at Friendship Homes while still maintaining his work on the farm. Mark was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. He thoroughly enjoyed his morning coffee with his friends. In his free time, Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping, and was a longtime member of the Hawk Creek Archery Club. Mark will be remembered for his love for his family and the outdoors. He will be dearly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; children: Rita (Doug) Bahr of Sanborn, MN, Cealy (Andy) Eckberg of Bemidji, MN, Heather (Bruce) Jacksen of Bemidji, MN, and Josh (Cassie) Weckwerth of Montevideo, MN; grandchildren: Breana (Ed) Lund, Kody Bahr, Holden Eckberg, Brooklynn Eckberg, Bailie Zylka, Alexa Zylka, Trent Weckwerth, and Hanna Pouliot; 9 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings: Neal Weckwerth of Cottonwood, MN, Milt (Kathie) Weckwerth of Park Rapids, MN, and Judy Bloch of Montevideo, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Weckwerth; brother-in-law, Steve Bloch; sister-in-law, Kathy Weckwerth; mother-in-law, Lyla Livingston; and father-in-law, Weldy (Deanna) Hodge.
