Marvin Eden Nelson

Marvin Nelson, of Dawson, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 87.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Marvin Eden Nelson was born December 29, 1936 in Madison, MN to Tillman and Ida (Laabs) Nelson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Garfield Lutheran Church in rural Madison, MN.  Marvin was united in marriage to Janice Lindquist on July 2, 1958 and to this union eight children were born.  He was united in marriage to Rosalie Thovson on June 21, 1997, they made their home in Dawson.  Marvin worked for AMPI in Dawson for 37 years as a dryer operator.  He enjoyed going bowling and dancing, and always loved spending time with his family, especially fishing and camping on Lac qui Parle Lake.  Marvin also spent time traveling, taking many trips to Branson, MO with Rosalie.

He is survived by his children, Brian, Larry (Colleen), Kevin (Gaylynn), Mark, Terry, Randy, Rick, and Melissa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several extended family and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosalie; brothers, Donald and Harlin Nelson; sister, Gloria Painter; and granddaughter, Stacey Nelson.
