Menno Frerichs, of Maynard, died Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Avera Care Center in Granite Falls at the age of 93.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Maynard Lutheran Church. Rev. Joyce Capp will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo.
Visitation will be held at the church from 12 until 1:30 PM. Arrangements are with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Menno Andreas Frerichs was born September 13, 1932, on a farm near Clara City, MN the son of Rikus and Ayeltdine (Reiter) Frerichs. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Menno attended country school Dist. 46 and moved southwest of Maynard in 1946. He helped on his sister, Alice Gronewold’s farm until joining the US Army in 1954. He served as a Military Policeman in Japan before his honorable discharge. Menno was united in marriage with Margene Norwood on June 27, 1958 at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church, rural DeGraff. They made their home at Maynard, MN. He worked for Olsen Tiling, Maynard Farmers Elevator, and Cargill before going to work for Thorstad Construction in 1966. He worked as a foreman building commercial steel buildings and other construction jobs for 27 years. Menno then worked at Impact Plastics as the construction and remodeling foreman until retiring in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, reading and jigsaw puzzles. He also enjoyed helping family and friends with small construction projects and repairs. Menno was a member of the Maynard American Legion for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Margene; three children: Trudi (Scott) VanHeuveln, Traci (Randy) Grussing, and Matt (Angie) Frerichs; grand and great-grandchildren: Derek (Erin) VanHeuveln & Lauren and Colin, Amber (Ryan) Verhulst & Logan and Grant, Robb (Caitlin Maus-Grussing) Grussing & Maeve and Scarlett, Sean (Hilary) VanHeuveln & Barrett and Etta, Mitch (Brittany TerWisscha-Grussing) Grussing & Penelope, Leo, and Helen, Mason (Kenzie Swanson) Frerichs, and Adam Frerichs; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife’s parents; and his siblings: Annie Frerichs, Harm Frerichs, Henry Frerichs, Sylvia Cronen, and Alice Gronewold and their spouses.
