Michael Alan Carter

Michael Alan Carter was born February 20, 1964, in Marshall, Minnesota, the son of Ronald and Miriam (Swanson) Carter. Michael grew up in Marshall, attended school there, graduating from Marshall High School.

Michael was an over-the-road truck driver in the shipping industry and was employed by G. R. Daniels for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed remote control boats and helicopters, playing video games, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Michael passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026 at CentraCare Health – Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota. He is survived by his children: Afton Gonzalez of Fargo, ND, Garin Carter of Detroit Lakes, and Savannah Bender-Carter of Clear Lake; siblings Shana Whitlock of Anchorage, AK, and Tim Carter of Minnesota.

Michael was preceded in death by his son Michael Dean Carter, father Ronald Carter, mother Miriam Carter, and brothers Terry and Jay Carter.

The family is planning a celebration of Michael's life at a later date.
