Michael John Evenson

Michael “Mike” Evenson , of Dawson, died Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN at the age of 64.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating.  Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Michael John Evenson was born on March 26, 1953 in Dawson to Obert and Phyllis (Lyng) Evenson.  He was baptized on May 3, 1953 and confirmed on May 12, 1968 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.  He attended and graduated from Dawson High School.  Following high school he made his home in Montevideo and then moved back to Dawson in 2003.  Mike was a cook at Trailways in Montevideo for over 30 years.  When he moved back to Dawson he worked at Bobbers in Dawson and then eventually owned and operated CJ Mikes.

Mike loved to cook and enjoyed it when other people could enjoy a good meal and conversation.  He especially like to take long drives around the countryside in Montevideo and Dawson.  By far his greatest joys were his children and grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his children: Isaac (Miranda) Evenson, Dawson, Selena (Ray Shackelford) Evenson, Milbank, SD, Katie (Josh Raskie) Evenson, Granite Falls, MN, Emmalee Evenson, Dawson, MN; two grandchildren: Quentin Evenson and Ethan Shackelford; siblings: Dave Evenson, Granite Falls, John (Stephanie) Evenson, East Bethel, Marilyn (Vince) Nordstrom, Willmar, Diane Sparks, Spokane, WA, Linda Saue, Montevideo, and Laura (Bill) Hilden, St. Cloud; nieces and nephews and other extended family.
