Michael Rosdahl, of Dawson, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 72.
The family will be planning services at a later date at Lac Qui Parle Lake to honor Mike's memory.
Michael Roy Rosdahl was born November 9, 1950 in Wheaton, MN to Roy and LaVonne Rosdahl (Wolbersen). He was baptized on March 12, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church in Wheaton and Confirmed on June 14, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. His early school years were spent in Wheaton until they moved to Morris in 1961. In school, he played tennis and participated in theater. He graduated from Morris Senior High School in 1968. After high school, he enlisted in the National Guard but was unable to start this journey because of an accident. He worked in sales for various automotive and parts companies in the Twin Cities and Western Minnesota, worked in corrections for many years, was a member of the 9-F Sports Club and always loved cooking and the outdoors…spending most of his free time hunting and fishing.
Mike was previously married to Peggy (Haugen). They lived in Dawson where they had two children, Matthew and Kristina.
On October 26th of 1985 he met and fell in love with Jeanne Ellison (Raasch). They were united in marriage on August 23rd of 1986. To this union Mike gained a son, Jeffrey. Mike and Jeanne lived in Richfield and Montevideo, spent some years in Florence AZ and eventually moved back to Minnesota to be close to children and grandchildren, fishing and hunting.
His fun-loving and outgoing personality contributed to his success over the years as a salesman. Those who were close to Mike knew he was always prepared like a boy scout. He spent a lot of time on the road, for work and for fun in his pristine red Ford truck, and was never without a fishing rod and shot gun…just in case the opportunity arose. He also loved sports…watching the Twins, Vikings and Gophers. But most importantly, he loved being there for his favorite athletes, Matt and Kristi. He would drive hours, sometimes a few days a week, so he wouldn’t miss a sporting event. He loved to stop and visit with anyone along the way, finding out where the fish were biting and sharing a Bacardi Coke. He had a wise wit about him, always cracking jokes, pulling pranks and planning his next shenanigans.
Mike will be greatly missed by all those that loved him. He is survived by wife, Jeanne of Clearwater, Minnesota; son Matt (Maria) Rosdahl of Alpharetta, Georgia, and daughter Kristi (Nick) Gruwell of Dawson, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; his siblings, Mark (Vicki) Rosdahl, Steve Rosdahl and Lori (Patrick) Smolke; and stepdaughter-in-law, Skeeter Ellison.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and LaVonne Rosdahl and stepson, Jeffrey Ellison.
