Mildred Arlene Skogrand

May 13, 1925 — April 17, 2019

Mildred Skogrand, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 93.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo, with Pastor Marie Eckberg officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, April 22 at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Mildred Arlene (Tobiason) Skogrand was born on May 13, 1925 in Montevideo to Andrew and Helga (Amundson) Tobiason, the youngest of nine children.  She grew up on the farm and attended country school before attending Milan High School where she graduated from in 1943.  Following high school, she met Marlowe Skogrand and they were married on February 21, 1948 at Big Bend Parsonage.  They farmed in Mandt Township where Mildred spent time taking care of the home and preparing numerous meals for the farmers.  She later worked at Johnnie’s Fairway as a cashier.  Mildred was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary.  She enjoyed watching sports, especially when they involved her children and grandchildren, but also watching the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves.

Mildred is survived by her children: Richard Skogrand of Montevideo, Nancy (Bob) Kurtzbein of Montevideo and  Dean (Connie) Skogrand of Cottwonwood; grandchildren: Corey (Cory) Skogrand, Kelly Skogrand, Michelle (Zach) Weckwerth, Melissa (Dustin) Kopecky, Ashley (Quinton) Liebl, Jason (Tracy) Kurtzbein  and Matt (Nicole)  Kurtzbein; great-grandchildren: Santana, Andrew, Parker, Kyra, Averie, Quinn, Payton, Kasidy, Maizey, and Kelbi; brother-in-law, Don Skogrand; sister-in-law, Delores (Don) Cornelius; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1998; daughter, Julie Roder; and siblings: Margaret, Earl, Arthur, Gilman, Evelyn, Stella, LouElla, and Raymond.
