Monrud Anderson, 81, of rural Clarkfield, died May 4, 1998 at his home in Lisbon Township.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 8, 1998 at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Alvin G. Lewis will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Friday.
Monrud Elwood Anderson was born September 23, 1916 at Dawson, MN the son of Victor and Phoebe (Warner) Anderson. He was baptized at Providence Valley Lutheran Church near Dawson and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in Clarkfield. Monrud served in the Army during WW II. He began his military service with the Home Guard from Montevideo and served in the Army from February 10, 1941 until his discharge July 22, 1945. He was united in marriage with Catherine Halvorson June 22, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They farmed in Lisbon Township of Yellow Medicine County. He was a member of the VFW Post in Montevideo, served as Lisbon Township Supervisor, and also served as a Trustee at Trinity Lutheran Church. Monrud enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; two children: Cynthia Anderson of Clarkfield, MN and Michael Anderson and his wife Jeanie of Clarkfield, MN; four grandchildren: Jessica Anderson, Melinda Anderson, Melissa Anderson, and Melanie Anderson; one great-grandson, Tristan Anderson; two brothers: Gerald and his wife Patricia of Tucson, AZ and Roger and his wife Phyllis of Dawson, MN; and four sisters: Iarud Ludvigson of Bloomington, MN, Ione Falk of Montevideo, MN, Lucille Hermanson and her husband Arthur of Boyd, MN, and Vivian Anderson of Montevideo, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one grandson, Jason Michael Anderson; one brother, Arnold Anderson; and two sisters: Irene Frolund and Avenell Saue.
