Myron Nehring, of Boyd, died Friday, April 3, 2026 at Brookside Senior Living in Montevideo at the age of 85.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo with Fr. John Hayes as the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery near Dawson.
Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday.
Myron Leon Nehring was born April 29, 1940 at Clarkfield, MN the son of Leonard and Leona (Kelm) Nehring. He attended school through 8th grade and then helped his father on the farm. He was united in marriage with Carol Laux April 25, 1959 at St. James Catholic Church in Dawson. They made their home on a farm near Boyd. They moved into Boyd in 1965. Myron worked for Virgil Anderson at the gas station, then the City of Boyd and later Lac qui Parle County until he retired. In retirement he helped Randy Fjerkenstad on the farm. Myron served on the Boyd Fire Dept. for 29 years. They wintered in Arizona for many years. He was a talented mechanic and loved to work on old cars and tractors. He belonged to several car clubs over the years.
He is survived by his son, Wayne (Mary) Nehring of Boyd; five grandchildren: Jacob (Chelsea) Nehring, Nicholas Nehring, Justin Scherer, Jessica Webster, and Josh Lamphear; great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Landon, Taryn, Brooklyn, Addison, Aspen, Chance, Josie, Brett and Erin; a brother-in-law, Robert Alleckson of Minneota; a sister-in-law, Monica (Larry) Osied of Waite Park; cousins: Nelda Johnson, Betty Herth, Jerry Remington, and Sue Jimenez.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Carol in 2001; a daughter, Donna Freeman; a grandson, Jonathan Lamphear; a sister, LaVonn Alleckson; special friend, Pat Liebl; a niece, Mary Laux; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Marcy and Robert McKigney, Eldred and Rita Laux, Joe and Sharon Laux.
