Nancy Mae Pierskalla, age 80 of Maynard, formally of Annandale, was called home by her Saviour Saturday, April 4, 2026, after a brief illness. A Celebration of Nancy’s life will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Maynard Event Center, 341 Cynthia St., Maynard, MN 1pm-5pm. Nancy will be laid to rest next to her husband Ron in a private family burial at North Corinna Cemetery, rural Annandale. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church in Maynard.
Nancy Mae was welcomed into the world by Henry “Hank” and Zola (Clark) Aeikens on May 31, 1945 in Montevideo. Nancy was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Maynard. Most of Nancy’s youth was spent in and around Maynard. In 1963, she graduated from Maynard High School and moved to the Twin Cities to help care for her uncle’s family. While there, she met her future husband, Ronald “Ron” Pierskalla. They were united in marriage on June 6, 1964 at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Maynard. The newlyweds moved to Hopkins where they welcomed two children, Terry and Julie. In 1977, they were able to make their shared dream come true of living in the country and moving their family to rural Annandale.
Nancy’s working life included being a bank teller and bus driver for both the city and school. When asked if it was scary to drive a big bus in city traffic she replied, “I’m bigger than they are.”
She and Ron enjoyed bowling and participated in many tournaments over the years. Making friends wherever they went, they always enjoyed a good social gathering. After retirement, they often traveled to Tucson, AZ for the winter, enjoyed playing cards, and had an occasional casino outing.
Following Ron’s death in 2011, Nancy returned to her roots in Maynard. She once again became a serving member of the First Presbyterian Church. Nancy cherished renewed friendships, served on the Maynard city council, and joined the ladies’ afternoon card club. Spending time and playing Hand & Foot with family and friends was one of Nancy’s favorite past times.
Nancy’s joy was her family, especially helping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She always had time for these special people in her life.
She leaves behind her children: Terry (Jodi) Pierskalla & Julie (Tom) Jacobs; 3 grandchildren: Amanda Plamann, Andrew Plamann, & Lauryn (Austin) Halbleib; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Bonnie (Jerry) Pauling & Kelly (Dean) Hengel; uncle Doug (Sherri) Clark; her cousin Betty Lewison, sister-in-law Judy Skorheim; brother-in-law Alan Quaal; special friends: Gary Coulter and Jeri Freese; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Those preceding her include her husband Ron, parents Hank and Zola, stepparents Bob & Vi Loe, great niece Katelyn Pauling, her in-laws Felix and Luella Pierskalla, Linda Quaal, Sharon & Richard Carlson, Adrian Skorheim, special friend Susie Thompson, and numerous other family members.
“Gone from our sight but never from our hearts.”
