Nicole Ims, of Granite Falls, passed away at home on Thursday, September 24, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her unconditionally after a courageous battle with ALS. She was 45 years old.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the ALS Association, 1919 University Ave. W, Suite 175, St. Paul, MN 55104.
Nicole Lynn Ims (Nikki) was born in Granite Falls, MN on December 8, 1980, to John and Linda (Sullivan) Ims. She was baptized on January 25, 1981, and confirmed on October 26, 1997, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. She attended school at Granite Falls Public Schools.
Growing up, Nikki enjoyed spending time on the family farm. Being outdoors and in nature was her happy place. Every fall, she was often with her dad as they went hunting for deer, ducks, and pheasants. When possible, she would climb in her dad’s semi-truck for a road trip, patiently waiting to select the treats they shared together at truck stops. From a very early age, she looked forward with great excitement and anticipation to the annual Sullivan family lake vacations where many wonderful memories were made. When she wasn’t practicing the piano or attending dance classes, you could find her reading a book, lost in the stories, fantasies, and interesting characters. Nikki was an avid reader, always eager to learn something new and expand her imagination. Every year, her favorite day was when the book fair came to the school and she and her mom would purchase even more books to add to her own home library. Shortly after high school, Nikki moved to Texas. It was there that she spent most of her adult life working in various retail jobs and as a medical aide. Her children and grandson were her pride and joy, and she loved them very much.
Even as her ALS disease progressed and caused very difficult challenges, Nikki faced each day with quiet dignity, and an inner will to fight. As ALS took away her ability to walk and talk, she continued to bless those around her with her beautiful smile, warm and engaging eyes, and an occasional one thumb text.
Nicole is survived by her children: Victoria Ims of St. Cloud, Cheyanna Wasdin of Corpus Christi, TX, and Rylan Delossantos of TX; parents, John and Linda Ims; siblings, Jessica Ims Ruiz of St. Cloud and Timothy Ims of Granite Falls; one grandchild; five nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Hilton and Marlene Ims and Emmett and Lorraine Sullivan.
SHE IS HEALED. SHE IS WHOLE. SHE IS FREE.
