IN LIEU OF FLOWERS MEMORIALS ARE PREFERRED TO PROVIDENCE VALLEY LUTHERAN CHURCH IN RURAL DAWSON.

Douglas Jay Pearson was born August 10, 1962 in Canby, MN to Charles and Bonnie (Bockes) Pearson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Providence Valley Lutheran Church in rural Dawson.  Doug attended and graduated from Canby High School, and after high school he attended Canby Vo-Tech obtaining a culinary degree.

Doug was a lifelong member of Providence Valley Lutheran Church where he spent time serving on the church council and spent countless hours helping in the kitchen for funerals and all church activities.  He had a genuine passion for taking care of and helping others. This especially shined through when he began as a hospice volunteer following the death of his mother.  Doug had a great love for people and thoroughly enjoyed spending time visiting with others. He brought joy and an infectious laughter that could be heard by all. Doug’s love for people did not just come through visiting, but through writing as well. He sent cards and letters to family and friends on a regular basis.  What Doug was known best for was his ability to cook, and not in small portions, in mass quantities. He spent endless time making his famous potato salad and scalloped potatoes and ham. He spent most of his life in the kitchen serving others, from working at all varieties of restaurants, to catering, and to cooking for his family and friends. He not only brought a sense of openness, but a love for nourishing others in both body and spirit. He will forever be an inspiration of what the love of Christ truly looks like in this world. He will be deeply missed not only by his family, but by hundreds of people, who he always referred to as his friends, who he touched in so many ways throughout his lifetime.

Doug is survived by his father, Charles Pearson of Canby, MN; brother, Dean (Joyce) Pearson of Canby, MN; sister, Beth (Jamie) Borstad of Dawson, MN; nieces, Anna (Jay) Stensrud, and their children: Brynn, Broden, and Brax, Kari (Kerry) Sawyer, Kersti (Sam) Malmberg and their son, Everett, Nikki Borstad, and Ashley Borstad; and numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Pearson in 2004; a brother in infancy; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Blessed be his memory.
