Luther Wurster Obituary

Luther Wurster, of Dawson, died Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 69.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, Omro Township, rural Boyd, MN.  Pastor Allen Lonnquist will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Luther Martin Wurster was born September 25, 1950 at Terry, MT the son of Reverend Leland and Irma (Lebkuehner) Wurster.  He grew up in Terry, MT and graduated from Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, SD in 1968.  He then attended (Dr.) Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.  Luther was united in marriage with Eileen Eckelberg February 9, 1973 in Kendall, WI.  They made their home in Cottonwood, MN and moved to Dawson in 1984.  He drove truck for Marshall Food Service and Viessman Trucking where he also worked as a dispatcher. He retired after spending a decade working at Jeneo in Montevideo. Luther was a longtime church organist starting with his own father's congregation at the age of 12. He served as an organist at each church he was a member at; most recently, St. John's Omro Township. Luther served as secretary for Great Plains Lutheran High School Board of Directors in Watertown, SD in the years prior to its opening in 1995. Luther loved spoiling his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by three children: Wendy (John) Graf of East Troy, WI, Miles (Kathy) Wurster of New Ulm, MN, and Amy (Jason) Snodie of Waukesha, WI; nine grandchildren: Hope, John, Luke, and Ginger Graf, Ella and Izzy Wurster, and Aubrey, Caleb, and Nora Snodie; one brother, Daniel Wurster of Tyler, MN; and extended family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a granddaughter, Livvie Graf; and a brother, Stephen Wurster.
