Pearl Gerda (Strand) Carlson

Pearl (Strand) Carlson, formerly of the Baxter Twp. area, died on Sunday, October 31, 2004 in Western Springs, IL at the age of 90.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Jennifer Hackbarth officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Pearl Gerda (Strand) Carlson was born on October 3, 1914 in Boyd, MN to Peter and Caroline (Lageson) Strand.  She was confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and graduated from the Lutheran Normal School in Madison, MN.  She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where she sang with and was a soloist for the college choir.  On June 3, 1939 she was united in marriage to Arthur Carlson in Moorhead, MN. She taught school in Morgan, MN and for 21 years in Illinois.  She was a member of Christ Church of Oak Brook, IL and loved to garden, bake and do needlepoint.

She is survived by daughters: Beverly Quinn and her husband Don of Fountain Hills, AZ, Diane Jones and her husband Bryan of Seattle, WA, Bonnie Carlson of Minneapolis, MN and Sharon Carlson of Western Springs, IL; 4 grandchildren: Bob Quinn of Boise, ID, Scott Quinn of Fountain Hills, AZ, Laura Jones of Arlington, VA and Sandi Headid of Sergeant Bluff, IA; and 3 great grandchildren: Ryan and Casey Quinn and Michael Headid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur in 1972 and by 2 brothers, Palmer and Elliott Strand.
