Robert Draack

Robert "Bob" Hubert Draack, age 76, of Alexandria, MN, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2026, from a massive stroke. Bob was born on July 30, 1949, in Fargo, ND, to the late Walter and Leona (Miller) Draack. Bob was the second oldest of five children. He was baptized at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Fargo, ND, and confirmed at St. Henry's Catholic Church. He graduated from Perham High School in 1968 and later attended Bemidji State University. Bob served in the military from 1969 to 1971. In 1971, Bob joined in marriage with Mary Boedigheimer, and together they had three sons. Bob built a fulfilling career working in finance, and in 1993, he found his stride as an Operations Manager in the employment business, where he met his current wife, Carla Olson. They married on December 19, 1997.

Bob was a proud, decorated veteran. He began his military career in the U.S. Army, serving as an elite guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. From there, he deployed to Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles), where he served honorably and with recognition, including a Purple Heart. He and his son, Chad, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., through the Veterans Honor Flight, where they were treated to a celebration for his service and sacrifices for our freedom alongside other veterans.

Bob will be remembered for his love of his family and dogs, sense of humor and appreciation of the outdoors. Whether he was teaching a grandchild how to bait a hook, track through the woods, play a strategy game, watch a dance recital, cheering them on at ballgames, or enjoying his one-on-one picnics in the park, he was happiest in those precious moments. He also enjoyed gardening and traveling the world with his wife, Carla-from Canada to Australia and many places in between, with his final vacation being to the pearly gates of heaven.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carla, and five children: Chris, Chad (Carrie), Cory (Danielle), Brianna Weber, and Renae Weber. Bob had seven grandchildren: Tyler (Flo) Draack; Tyler "Tippy" (Joci) Rankin, Alaina and Matthew Draack; Alivia and Audrina Draack; Kaylee Johnston; and two great-grandchildren: Ezra and Fallon Draack. He is also survived by his siblings: Carolie Poole, Dennis (Cindy) Draack, Carl (Debbie) Draack, and Allan (Leah) Draack; sisters-in-law: Laura (Wayne) Dahl and Sheila (Tom) Sigecan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Leona; his brother, Walter; and his in-laws, Lawrence and Ina Olson.

Memorial services were held on July 22, 2026 at the Washburn-McReavy Bloomington Chapel. Lunch and a full honor guard were held at Everett McClay VFW Post 1296 in Bloomington.   Interment will be held later at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
