Roger Dean Hanson was born on October 20, 1944, in Benson to Chester and Lavina (Kvam) Hanson. He was baptized at West Bank Church in Danvers, grew up on his parents’ farm in rural Danvers, and graduated from Benson High School. After graduation, he worked for a local farmer for a year before joining the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis as a mailroom employee. There, he was trained to repair office equipment at Dunwoody and many places throughout the country.
After more than a decade at the bank, he became service manager at an office supply company in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he worked for another 10 years. He later moved to Eugene, Oregon and continued as a service manager for the rest of his full-time career.
After retiring, he returned to Alexandria, Minnesota, where he spent the next 20 years enjoying time with family and friends. Roger loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and delighted in sharing a tall fishing tale—even with a stranger.
